Every dynamic starts from the complementarity between the opposites.
My work extends itself between my countryside studio (Proença-a-Velha) and my city studio (Lisbon).
They are a result of a bridge between nature and artificial; organic and geometric; day and night; me and you where is neither me nor you but something in between, this is the place where everything is born.

I learned the art of transforming wood into lamps with my father who is an artist. For me it became essential to learn how to prune a tree, the right time of the year, the right branch, the angle and distance of the cut in order for the tree to heal itself. Once on the ground I calibrate the branch in the right position and peel it while is fresh and soft. It's then a matter of shaping, sanding and detailing it before it dries completely since holly wood is extremely hard. It is important to understand its dynamics.

"Bichos", my first solo project, are functional sculptures walking between art and design.
The countryside is where i shape them, the city where i bring them to life.
